Two days of Clarity.

Saturday didn't start off well, and my mood was very foul. Because I thought he had forgotten about a small anniversary all that while.

But then our day was overall fine, because we dined at Miss Clarity Cafe and were pretty well fed by it's serving portions!

We went to the branch along Tanjong Katong Road opposite Donut Empire, and the ambience was pretty fab. The crowd was pretty constant, and many family dined in there.

J ordered Fish & Chips, and made it a set with his usual tea, with tomato based soup and ice cream for dessert. (Not picture worthy. LOL.)

He picked a side dish of Mumbo Jumbo, which was cheese fries drenched in parmesan cheese with sausage bits! The menu said there was bacon bits, but I found NONE. Tsk. But it was nice still.

As you can see, I wasn't very satisfied with the cheese fries. It's $5 more than the normal cheese fries (also offered on the menu), but what they served up was cheese fries with missing bacon bits, thinly sliced sausage bits (the kind you find in the frozen food section in supermarkets at $1.50+ for a packet). For $11.80, it wasn't very worth it.

I ordered a Soft Shell Crab with Cream Based Pasta peppered with garlic bits and parsley!

It looked pretty plain at first sight, but I was surprised to taste the thickness of the cream base, and the crabbiness/freshness of the soft shell crab. The soft shell crab was a tad too oily though.

Dessert was a scoop of Ben's and Jerry's Ice Cream, which is nothing worth photographing since everyone should know how it looks and tastes like. LOL.

They served home made Barley, which was great for me, since I'd just recovered from sickness (and shouldn't be out feasting on such food so fast)!

Soft Shell Crab Pasta: $11+
Fish and Chips: $9.80
Making it a set: $3.80
Cheese Fries with Sausage bits: $11.80

Total Bill: $41+ (No GST, No Service Charge!)

On Sunday (actual day of anniversary), we had to attend a funeral of a certain camp mate around Serangoon. But we still stubbornly headed down to Miss Clarity Cafe again. I presume J wanted to try more dishes there, since the menu seemed enticing enough and the ambience was nice.

We thought we were more educated in making our orders, and I'd introduced him to some new dish.

Our side dish was Escargot this time round, because we wanted to make a comparison between the Escargot from CheeseCakeCafe and Miss Clarity Cafe.

It turned out that the Escargots were baked differently.

CheeseCakeCafe's Escargots were baked with cheese, turnips and parsley stuffed into the shell, while Miss Clarity Cafe's Escargots were baked with olive oil on a bed of Sea Salt!

Escargot from both cafe costs $9.80 for half a dozen (that's 6 snails, if you can't divide, or don't know what's a Dozen.), so it's really up to personal preferrence, really.

The former is much more moist, and tastes more flavourful than the latter which was drier and oilier than I would've preferred, but I polished it off anyway.

J was so nice to give me the last shell. LOL.

Our main course.

Mine was Beef Bolognese in tomato base. It was done just the way I liked; not too sour, and absolutely unsweetened by ketchup like those sold in food courts.

I recommended him to try Oxtail Stew, and his choice of risotto with the stew made it not too overwhelming for the stomach, unlike my usual choice of rice, which made me bloated most of the time. The Oxtail was nicely done, with the oxtail stewed to tender perfection. Not too soft, nor too hard. The joints were a joy to suck and bite off the jelly bits... an excuse to use your fingers to dig in!

=D

But then I used my utensils to handle the bones, because I hate getting oily fingers. LOL.

WE had Custard Caramel for dessert this time, and it was so yummilicious, WE BOTH HAD TWO SERVINGS OF IT!

XD

I've had custard that tasted like normal jelly puddings before, and wasn't sure how this would taste like. I was expecting something EXTREMELY sweet, but was pleasantly surprised by it's slighly sweetness of the caramel and the eggy, cheesy taste of the custard -LIKE CHEESECAKE!

Once again, we made ordered sets (additional $3.80), because he wanted tea, and I, barley. The choice of soup was Creme Of Corn, with corn bits, but the serving was small. (Not Picture Worthy).

Oxtail Stew: $15.80

Bolognese:$9.80

Escargot:$9.80

Make your meal a set: $3.80 (includes drink, dessert & soup.)

An Extra Serving of Custard: $1.50

Total Bill: $46+
